Got this 1736 3 Pfennig piece in a coin assortment today, but can't make out exactly what part of Germany it's from -- can someone enlighten me?

This coin was issued by the bishopric of Munster: FURSTLICHE MUNSTERISCHE SCHEIDE MUNTZ.
The monogram is that of Clemens August of Bavaria, who was bishop of Munster 1719-1761.

The Wittelsbacher, the ruling family of Bavaria was a powerful dynasty in the Holy Roman Empire. They held the bishoprics of Munster, Hildesheim, Cologne, Liege, etc... for ages.

Yes, I borrowed that picture because my scanner is down and it would be doubtful if I could get a picture as good as that one, anyway.

Problem is, the site is in German and it's hard to make out exactly what they are saying -- it's beyond the little bit of German I know, and the German I know isn't numismatic German.

Incidentally, it's the second time Google Pictures took me exactly to a picture of the coin I was trying to identify -- all I did was type in "3 Pfennig, 1736" and it came up.

Thanks, bart for explaining it so well!

Interesting, from Wikipedia:

"Bishop Clement Augustus of Bavaria (1719-61) was frivolous, vain and pomp-loving. He was also Elector of Cologne, and Bishop of Paderborn, Hildesheim, and Osnabrück. During his episcopate the diocese suffered terribly, in 1734-35 and during the Seven Years' War, being almost ruined financially."

Interesting that this 3 Pfennig Piece was coined the year after that first terrible period of suffering -- makes one wonder if this was part of some fiscal recovery program...incidentally, love that Canadian dollar hovering around par...
