To rich for my blood. This is probably one of the last pennies I'll need if I ever complete the set. Anyone own one? If so, what grade?

Mine wont be graded by a TPG. I know it's been cleaned and don't need the grief of seeing it on a label. It will be on the bay soon, raw. All my stuff goes to a powerseller, who lives nearby. Believe me it's worth the 25% I pay him,

I'd love to have a mintstate NSF, but (in addition to having a limited budget) I refuse to own anything graded MS-60 or MS-62 for reasons of eye-appeal. At the moment I have an EF and an AU-55 NSF. My AU doesn't have as much red remaining as the 62 here, but at half the book value of a 62, I really have no complaints.

PS, I know I've said it before, but even at a 62 grade, this coin is in the top 20 or so coins graded by ICCS, with only about 10 coins graded higher. At a 63 grade, only three have been graded higher. A true modern rarity, and still quite undervalued in my opinion. Even an EF is in the top 75 (all numbers based on the 2009 report, I'm still waiting for the 2010 to arrive).

Interesting info on the population. I would love to see an ICCS population report but would never pay $30 (I think it should be free if you send in 100 coins). I to try to keep my pennies above MS-60 but in this case and a few others, I'd just be happy to own one in any grade.

As an aside, buying a coin like this over the internet, receiving it only to realize it is ugly as sin and then hating it(or just not liking it very much) is the worst kind of buyers remorse. There's no point in buying just to have it. I'd say it's way better to find one that appeals to you in person at a show or dealer store.

laconic,
do you really think the guys in Toronto will give you one for free?
they can not even "afford" a web site... never mind get in touch with the real world via email...
dream on if you are hoping for a freebie....

Does anyone have a reasonable estimate of how many of these were made and how many 1954 nsf cents were made?

they, after a few strong words, regraded it as a 45. However, I ended up paying for shipping...phone calls NO EMAIL.
