Would you still go through $25. boxes of pennies if it were not for the coppers in the box to separate ? I don't do it for the coppers do you think this will prove to be a waste of time for me ? I noticed with only 3 lacking of the 1958 - now LMC I find only a few better condition upgrades to keep . Will this prove unworth it do you think ? So without the copper hunting would you still do it ?

I do it for the wheats and the BU's I find all the way back to the 60'S. I don't keep copper for the sake of copper. I also find enough errors to keep things interesting. It's a cheap diversion.

I also do it for the wheats, the really rare chance of an Indian Head, the foreign coins, and the BU's I find. Today I found nearly a full roll of BU coins from early 60's through late 70's - they looked like they were minted yesterday.
I also separate the copper and will be selling my first lot of that next week.

While I do look for coppers, I take more care in searching for Wheat Licolns, or young Elizabeth II or the Georges. Luckily I get both countries' coinage in my change. :D

Ok good points ... I will probably continue to go through a box every two weeks for what you all mentioned . And if I want to start separating the coppers what do you do with them next ? (that is sell them I assume ...? where? to who? how are they sold ?) Thanks ...

I just look or the wheat's and non US coinage. The lack of anything prior to 82 or 83 as of late has cut my roll searching down considerably. Well, truth be told the nice weather has a little to do with it also.

For me it is a treasure hunt. Sometimes you come up with nothing, sometimes you strike it rich (relatively speaking). I look for errors and varieties, wheats, canadians, counter-stampers, toners, bu zincolns, dimes, plastic cents, bottle caps (kidding), Indian cents (not kidding). It's fun, that's all.

Same here, mostly wheats here, just a nice feeling if I can find something in a roll that I other wise would have paid a lot more then face for!
