I don't collect much paper money, but down through the years I have picked up a little for my collection.

Just today I found a banknote I had completely forgotten about!

It looks really neat, but I doubt it has a lot of value.

I think I'll frame it and put it on my office wall.

It's a United States $5 note, with "National Currency" at the top, and "The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Ohio" on the left hand side. It's 1929, and while I can't really grade banknotes, it looks to be probably fine condition in that it has no major creases.

Can anybody give me a value?

Pretty excited I found it. Wonder what else may be lying around in the dark recesses of my closets.

It is hard to give you a value with out a picture, and One really needs a book just on national currency .. rarity for ohio notes is only a one (very common). my book gives prices based on type values crossreferenced with a table of rarity and in fine condition yours would be worth $50.00, 60 for vf, 65-ef,80-cu. but truly this only a type value the specific charter number may be worth less or more... and I have One from the same bank I assume in about same condition..

Thanks scoutjim.

Value isn't really important to me anyway.

I don't think I have ever sold a coin or banknote in my life.

Nice re-discovery Gray. I love old currency and recently began collecting large size Federal Reserve notes by denonation. I have 1,2,5,10,20 and $50.00 large notes. I'm still trying to snag a $100.00 one but I keep losing the auctions. The prices are insane right now for the old C-Notes. Your 1929 is most likely the first year of the small series note. I could be wrong about this as I'm just starting to study currency. The Cleveland reserve seems to have produced an enormous amount of currency as I see many of them at auctions. Mike

Thanks for the information Mike.

If I was just starting as a collector, had some money, and was a lot younger, I would really get into banknotes. They fascinate me.
