Went through a box today.(I know, I should get a life.)Maybe 3% coppers.5 wheaties and 3 Canadian.Just a load of crappy zinc that all looked like they had been run over by a truck. It was a mix of customer rolls, bank rolls.I think we have many, many copper horders out there.More than we think. Are others experiencing this or should I just have a few beers tonight? Help.

Have a few beers before you search, you'll find tons of double dies!

i get boxes of cents to search also and I have noticed it been hit or miss lately. I went through a box last week and got 1 wheaty. I needed more than just a few beers.

Halfwitty - I've had a box with only 1 copper in it - a 1919 Wheat. LOL. I also had a box with nearly 80% copper and 31 wheats in the same 10 day period from the same bank.
You just never know. Over the last 10 boxes - I've had three with less than 10% copper, but the overall copper rate in those 10 boxes is still around 23%.
You'll do better on the next one.

I really feel bad for the new guys just starting to collect and the ones that will start in the next few years. All they will have are these crappy zinc cents that will look like they were chewed by a Pit Bull. All the coppers will be gone.

I'm from Canada and I searched a couple boxes of pennies a little while ago and I've been finding around 8-20 wheaties per box, lots of american, and lots of copper pennies!

I've had quite mixed finds. I don't have problems getting regular copper which I don't keep but the wheat cents are another story. A few weeks back I had the box you dream of with over 100 wheat's and about 12 of them being BU or AU. This cam along with BU 60's and so on. The past 3 boxes averaged 10 wheat's each and not much worth mentioning other than a very nice die clash on a BU 2003.
It really is a crap shoot.

I find that it comes in short runs. One bad box or two, a couple of avg boxes and then bang some great finds. Just got two from the same bank Monday. First one was pretty much a bust with 5 wheats, don't worry about coppers and no high quality BUs. Still have about 15 rolls left in the second box and already have 34 wheats, 1 1998 WAM and a dozen good BUs including a couple in the 60s. Go figure. Jim

Halfwitty, I guess I am just in the right place. Have found over 20 of both the 1998 and 2000. Just found my first 1999 within the last couple months. Jim
