That certainly is a British copper coin from 1852. The only problem is that farthings, half pennies, and pennies all had the same design, but were distinguished by their size and weight. So what is the diameter of your coin?

Britain did not issue penny coins in 1852. The way to distinguish farthings from halves (apart from their size) is to look at the nose of the queen. On a halfpenny it's just above "T" as on the picture above. On a farthing it's level with "C".

Edit: Of course I meant for the first design. The looks of Victorian coins kept changing throughout her long reign.

fioti, if its diameter is 16 mm then it is indeed 1/3 farthing. To be "identical" it has to be 1844. The obverse design is pretty much identical to the halfpenny. On the reverse on 1/3 farthing the trident shouldn't go as far to the rim as the one on the picture above.

1/3 farthings were issued for circulation in Malta (as they had used farthings as "3 grani" coins). Unlike 1/2 and 1/4 farthings issued for circulation in Ceylon 1/3's were not as popular in UK (too weired a fraction). 1/2 farthing even became legal tender in UK in 1942, while the other two fractions never did.

12 cm? Then it's a saucer! You probably didn't mean that.
