Not too bad SDcoinguy. The Barber pieces are essentially junk silver but since they're Barbers, they can bring a bit more than melt. 15X face would be a fair price on them. The Seated dime was a good buy. With the rims gone I wouldn't agree with the seller's VG grade but for $5 it's hard to go wrong.

Not a bad deal - the Barbers have full rims at first glance - and that's a big hurdle to jump for these series!
I think there is a wide spread between "buy" and "sell" on barbers. If you bring them into a coin shop, they'll probably just give whatever they're giving for junk silver. However, turn around and try to buy a Barber half and my experience has been nothing under $8-$9.
If someone on the forum can point me to a non-auction site that offers Barber halfs for 15xface (and you can pick the dates), please let me know.
I simply don't bother with that series (and the quarters) because of the significant markup for coins in AG/G grades.
As they say, "Your Mileage May Vary".

Quote: ...where are you selling junk barbers for 15x face? I'm not selling them for 15X face. Many people are though. The OP's transactions are typical junk Barber sales that went over 15X face. If anyone is looking for junk Barbers I would keep an eye on this forum: http://forums.collectors.com/catego....cfm?catid=7A Barber lot sold today for spot but often they are 10% to 20% over spot.

I go to the coin shop and dig through the junk quarters every once in a while. Last time I was there, I got a decent 1901 in VG. Bad news is that they forgot the S when they made it at the mint :(

Either that, or take you to vegas.
