Flopbury- That certainly is not from Russia. There appears to be Nasta'liq script (the script used for Arabic & Farsi) on the reverse. So...I have no idea. I really want to know though.

Archraz, as Flopbury said in the thread title, it's from Khwarezm - an old khanate of the Russian Empire which seceded during the Russian revolution. It's listed under "Uzbekistan - Khorezm People's Soviet Republic" in my 2006 edition Krause.

As for authenticity, it's hard to judge for this series, given that originals are fairly crudely made. Krause lists this coin, KM/Y# 17, only as bronze; this one looks quite brassy in your pics. I don't see anything else that makes me think this is fake.

I think this one is a little too crude, the odd shape of the numbers in '100' are a particular concern.

Central Asian khanates were striking coins locally (no Pobjoy Mint yet) and they all were traditionally very crude.

I've yet to find a picture of a genuine example with those wobbly '0's.
