First off, I would like to thank all the kind comments received on the 1858 Large Cent coin I made. A friend of mine sent me a link to this site, so I thought I would sign up. I am also a member of The CCRS coin site. Another great place to meet collectors and chat. Originally I made the obverse of this coin, by request of Rob Turner. He is an American Collector, who is quite fond of Canadian coins, specifically Large Cents. He has written three excellent hardcover books on the 1858, and 1859 cents. The colour photos and info in these books is beyond belief! A life's work for sure! I made the obverse coin using the photo of the cover of one of his books, and decided to make the reverse and list it on ebay. It seems to have garnered alot of interest! For those interested, I have included some photos of the obverse I made! I look forward to joining in discusions when I get the chance. Thanks! Steve

Steve! It's great to have you check in with us .... and yes ... I personally have been watching that amazing 1858 large cent replica you have on e-bay. It might surprise you to know that I am as well an accomplished wood-worker ....... having won several awards at national juried exhibitions and have had the honor of seeing several photos of my work and methods in various woodworking magazines. I say the above in respect for your work ...... because I can recognize and appreciate the effort amongst the saw dust to create such a fine object of beauty. I know you won't hang out here for long .... this is a coin forum ..... but I truly enjoy your fine work and wish you the best in your continued efforts to create them. David

Hello Steve, Thanks for dropping in on us! I also keep going back on that ebay site of yours and stare at your beautiful masterpiece, sometimes oblivious to what my wife is saying while I'm staring.....................LOL. I envy people such as yourself that have the talent and patience to create such fine art, especially when it touches upon a deep passion of mine>coin collecting. I'm guesstimating the end price of your woodwork may well be into the 4 figures, realizing the comments you have been getting on it. I personally would go for it, however, I've committed myself to some major purchases this month making my financial status a little tight. I will however, be closely watching the end of the auction, never know, the ones most interested may forget about making the final bids that really count! Glenn Pinto

I am not a Canadian coin collector but I wanted to say you do some amazing work. I wish I had the talent to do that in wood like that, I can draw pretty well but when it comes to carving or wood work I am all thumbs

I'm still waiting for someone to knock me out of the high bidder spot....
BGB if I don't win this one (and I doubt I will), I have a really simple project in mind if you'd be interested.

HHB, for all you know there could be 10 other people who already want something created. Stop being so defensive, I saw your post about the 1921. :oP

1 cent.... first of all, I am NOT defensive. perhaps saying something as a fun thing does not go over well with some people... relax man.... here is someone who has a great product...and a few days ago I tried to support him... and YOU have to put a negative aspect on it....? come on... relax... I probably could keep him making wooden coins for the rest of his natural life..., for very good money... NO joke...
