I agree with Sap: the coin is from the Papal City State of Gubbio: the denomination is 1/2 baiocco ("mezo" or "mezzo" means "half").
Year is 1684: this is reign year 9 (IX) of pope Innocentius XI, as seen on the coin.

Yep. I believe this is the "cartouche" variety for this date, as opposed to the "laurel wreath". KM# 37, $15 in fine in my Krause.

And Artdio: if you want to add pictures to a new post in a thread that's already been started, click on the "reply to topic" link, rather than using the quick reply box, and you should get the familiar screen with it's green camera icon.

If you want to add a picture to your original post, click on the "edit post" icon (looks like a little pencil and paper) and click the green camera icon from there.

If you want to merge two threads together like we're going to have to do with these two, it's a lot of work for Bobby - ordinary Moderator powers aren't sufficient for that.
