I have recently come across a dime that has raised my interest.
I have no idea what this coin is?
I found it in my grandparents house after they moved out..

Description is as follows:
FRONT
Writing: VN DECIMO-DE BALBOA
With a bust of a viking looking man.

BACK
Writing: REPUBLICA DE PANAMA 1982
With a sheild in the center and an eagle on top of the sheild.
There are small images inside the sheild, it is worn so they are tough to make out.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nope, it's a regular circulation 10c from Panama. You can go to the wiki page on Panamanian Balboa to find out more. It's on par with the US dollar so it's worth 10c.

There are no shield dimes. I think you're getting it confused with a shield nickel
Rest in Peace

"un decimo" is 1/10 of a balboa, Panama's currency. Copper-nickel in composition. Attractive design.
