I thought this might be Russian because of the writing looked Cyrillic to me, but I've looked and the Russian coins are different.

It's Bulgarian 20 stotinki, they have Cyrillic alphabet as well.

The alphabet is indeed Cyrillic, but this coin is from Bulgaria. 20 stotinki 1917.
