1) We need to see the reverse to give a grade. 2) Never post pics of a coin inside a 2x2, bust it out for pics. 3) Take the main obverse/reverse pictures straight on. 4) It's OK to include some additional angled shots WITH the straight on shots.

Thanks for the tips BadThad, I'll get the straight on pics posted tomorrow. It took me a while just to get these, then another bit of time to get them formatted for upload. I think I'm learning more about photography then coins at this point!

Badthad said it all. Reverse is crucial for a proper grade. Pics are not too bad, like he said, try straight on in proper lighting out of the 2X2

I added some straight on pics, but I think my lighting is off. Too much light? I actually think these pictures make the coin look worse than when it's in hand. Starting to get the hang of the macro and the uploading though.

2 more pics with less light, it looks like the obverse is out of focus in the IGWT across the top.

Looks to be about VG-8....but, I see some moderate verdigris and evidence of some lighter verdigris having been removed. The black residue below the shoulder looks like it could be removed with great care and proper conservation technique. I say great care because it's a valuable coin and I'd rather have the residue on it than a cleaned coin.

....much better job on the pics! You have some more room on the size, your pics are about 70k and the forum allows up to 100k. The focus is off a bit on the obverse picture. Not sure what camera you have, but on my Canon pressing the shutter halfway lets the camera focus before snapping the pic.

Thanks BadThad. My camera has that function as well and while the specs say it has macro to 3cm, it is having a hard time focusing when I'm that close. That Verdigone product, is that something I can pick up at a coin show? I'm going to the show this weekend at the Dulles Expo Center in Northern Virginia. It looks like my '09-S could use it as well.

VERDI-GONE™ is only available through Wizard. I don't recommend you try using it unless you have extensive experience in coin conservation. DEFINATELY do not try it on these expensive coins unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing! Conservation of valuable coins is best left to the pros or very experinced conservationists. I'd hate to see you ruin a nice coin.

Changing my comment, agreeing with Thad's grade.

Sounds good BT, I'll leave the coins in 2x2's. On a side note, since I'm going to the coin show this weekend does anyone have any suggestions on what basic supplies or tools one should have for coin collecting? Maybe a list of the 5 or 6 things you can't do without, such as a loupe, gloves, 2x2's... that sort of stuff.
