I-Had-To-Get-One

1966 Aussie 20 pence

Remember now, a platypus is really a "10" compared to a Florida manatee.

"...Sometimes I see me as an old manatee
Heading south as the waters grow colder
He tries to steer clear of the hum drum so near
It cuts prop scars deep in his shoulders
That's how it flows right to the end
His body's still flexible but that
Barnacle brain don't bend..."

They're unusual, that's beautiful, and refreshing. I don't know if they issued these in other denominations or not but the 20 pence is the perfect size--approx. 28mm. Not too big and not too small.

G'day Longnine009, it's actually a 20 cent piece from Australia,we don't have pence, anymore. There is also a variety in that year to look for, it is the wavy 2 on the reverse. Pretty hard to obtain. 1966 was the first year of decimal currency for us.

Something like that happened to me. I was looking through a roll of nickles and I found an AMerican India Emeriatis Coin. The coin wasnt circular it was more of a hexagon shape. I wondered how that got into a roll?

I'm not sure that I've seen that one or not. I don't think so. What about the Aussie Spiny Ant-Eater? I have one those and it's pretty neat looking.

Sorry about the pence/cent mistake. I though the decimal switch was another one of those 70's thing.
