NO WAY! That's prettiest American bill ever! More than two colours this time! How about some women on your bills for a change? I'm sure America has some of those lying around. ;P

No, but seriously, it's about time that you guys invest in some security features. Can't leave all the business to counterfeiters.

haha yeah and what's with the big $100? And I've noticed they've gotten rid of the electrotype (light watermark) from the $5...

I like it. I doubt I will be seeing many of them in the future, but it looks nice.

Now, if we can just get them to switch to polymer.

Thanks for the pic, WD1040!

Awesome note - too bad they don't redesign a note that I can afford to save!

I agree with Libertad, that is definitely the nicest looking bill the US has come out with in a long time. Maybe this is the "change" Obama was talking about. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Well, no banknote today is backed by commodities, only the fluctuating strength of the economy and prices which are always increasing.

The last country to have some sort of backing is Switzerland, whose constitution required that 40% of the banknotes issued must be backed by gold. This ended in 2000, when the World Jewish Congress sued the Swiss National Bank.

Sorry I think it's ugly. The United States should have colorized banknotes but our current designs do not have any uniform color scheme. It's just splotches of color, which for the 5, 50, and now 100 are now entirely similar, being somewhere between bluish and purplish. The Euros, on the other hand, (whose designs I don't like for other reasons) have a uniform color scheme. The 5 is has many different shades of blue, but it is all blue. The 10 is red. etc. etc. each color is clearly distinguishable and there are no in-betweens or repetitions.

What is that golden thing at the bottom? After looking it up, it appears to be an inkwell (with a watermark of the liberty bell inside). It would make much more sense to have a gold liberty bell with a watermark of an inkwell inside (or ANYTHING else).

And I just when I thought that they couldn't outdo the 5's GIGANTIC PURPLE NUMBER ON THE BACK THAT JUST SCREAMS THIS IS A 55555!!111!, they come up with something even MORE obnoxious. Yes, I realize it's for people who can't see very well, and something like this needs to be on our bills, but 1) it needs to be incorporated better with the design, and 2) it needs to be uniform with all our bills (we now have a giant purple 5, large green 10, 20, 50, HUGENORMOUS GOLD 100).

Is it asking too much to have a coherent, organized, design scheme for our currency? Also, one that is released ALL AT ONCE? We really need to start from scratch with the designs instead of slapping new anti-counterfeit deterrents here and there.

I don't know why they can't just indent the bill with Braille.

As for uniformity, they had to change the bills that impacted the everyday economy. People are outright suspicious of any $100 bill to begin with, but a simple $20 is usually overlooked.

I think our notes would have to slowly evolve into something like that. They have been the way they are for so long that they cannot just change overnight.

If they changed too drastically, the uninformed majority would either think that the new notes are counterfeit or that they represent a conspiracy for a unified world currency.
