Hell everyone, first post, I am mainly a card collector (can tell by the name) but wanted an opinion on a coin I found in my change. Found it very odd that this would slip into circulation and it's definitely a production error. Any info would be appreciated.

Welcome, stick around and talk coins.

I don't think it matters if this is mint or post mint damage. Given the shape of the damage and heavy cupping on the smaller indent, I can't readily see that being caused by a die. Might have got caught under the wheels of a cart at the mint though :)

Hi there,
Thanks for the kind words. Just curious, if it was caught under wheels of a cart why would it have the double beading on the back of the coin? That pattern would have only occurred if it was struck twice. Maybe it was double struck and then got jammed somewhere causing the damage on the front?

Either way, would it be worth sending in for grading?

Interesting coin. Could you post a pic of both sides of the affected coin? TY

That second beading is an impression, concave right? Must have been from another quarter?

Didn't even notice it the first time time around, focused on the bent areas.
