I recently acquired a second 1819 over 8 (small 9) that is a bit better than my previous one I have in the Dansco. BUT, the new one has a reverse circular gouge. Which coin should I display? I'm in a quandary... (No, not a laundry... C'mon focus!)

I'll take a grade on these too, if you feel inclined.

First one (newest with reverse circular gouge):

Interesting dilemma, I guess it depends on what you intend to do with the coin that is not in the Dansco. The condition of the newer coin is better than the second one, I'd say VF-35. But the gouge is a problem an IMO the coin is damaged and should not be put in the Album. I would use the second coin.

First one! Much nicer detail and the date looks much better too. Grade on first, vf-40; Second vf-30.

Both are nice but I would display the problem free coin in the album albeit a lower grade.
Rest in Peace

I'd vote second one too. I like the surface quality of the second one better overall.
