Wow everyone is having a good time with contests so I thought I'd do one that we used to do as kids with classified ads in stamp magazines. Maybe someone here has done this before?

The contest is simple but has a good chance for participation.

-Get a postcard that you think is nice for whatever reason
-Put a real stamp on it (no prepaid post office postcards)
-Put only your forum name on the postcard as an ID
-hand draw a doodle of anything at all that is suitable for all ages viewing
*Put NO personally identifying information on your postcards*. I can't stress this enough. Protection of personal data is really important in this day and age. So no return address or names please or I'll have to disqualify the entry. I'm assuming the postmarks are not a problem.

To enter
-PM me for a mailing address. I typically check twice a day.
-I'll confirm receipt of your postcard via this thread.
-Have the normal 50 quality posts
-Mrs. Ugly (you bet she likes that name a whole ton) will draw out the hat on May 30th 2010. This should allow time for remote world stragglers to make it into the mailbox.
-If a minor(as defined by your locale)should win any prize then you are required to have a parent contact me for delivery via voice. No leeway on this.
-one entry per person but any number of forum members from the same household may enter

Prizes are my natural desire to spread the joy of collecting Canuck Bucks.
(2)Winners
First prize
-all the postmarked cards from forum members with what I hope are nice canceled stamps. I think these are a great collectible and nice keepsake.
-1964 prooflike uncirculated set of Canadian coins, including the Charlottetown silver dollar (one of the best looking of the silver dollars imo), silver 50 cent piece, silver 25 cent piece, silver 10 cent piece, nickel 5 cent piece and copper 1 cent piece. (we do use the terms quarter, dime, nickel, penny in Canada but it's not actually the correct nomenclature)
-pennylover1010 will be applying stamps from the seventies to his postcard I'll be doing the same and adding few extra into the mix.

Second place consolation prize decided by votes for best postcard by forum members.
EPQ CHUNC 1967 Dollar bill and a 1967 Silver PL 50 cent piece featuring the Timberwolf

I will scan and post an album of each postcard as it arrives with a link and updates offered for each received postcard.

If you have any questions, please ask.

What a cool idea and a great way to get an awesome stamp collection going! I would send you one with or without a prize just for coming up with the thought.

Do you want a picture postcard and then doodled? Or a blank postcard doodled? I'll also try to find a stamp out of the ordinary so that you don't end up with a hundred "forever" stamps. You know about these right?

In case you don't, they now have a stamp with no denomination on it, so that it could be used no matter what the price of stamps are now, or in the future.

It looks like this:

So, I would encourage everybody to come up with something different so that Ugly gets a variety. I think it costs around (or was) .75 to send a postcard to Canada, so mix it up! Try and come up with a unique combination of stamps to get to .75 or whatever it is.

Don't over think it, just have some fun...it's the winner who will get the postcards so treat them as you'd want your own treated...

Emails sent to those who requested the address... come on folks and join in, it's easy and fun.

Pm sent - This is a great idea.
I am a big fan of real stamps. I always insist on them at the post office, when sending a package. Yes, sometimes a pain for the counter person but my money feels bad buying dot matrix stickers

I will have mine in the mail in the AM, Ugly.

Had a hard time finding a postcard I was happy with. Bought a really cool stamp, too!

I hope the collection goes to someone who collects stamps and will appreciate them. If I win, I'll donate them to a stamp collector. It's not that I don't appreciate them, I just not a collector.

I'm really surprised you haven't had a better response on such a cool idea.

I can only speculate as to the low uptake.

I am assuming that the high level of activity involved (actually getting a postcard and putting a stamp on it) is tantamount to pulling teeth in the digital age. I say that with a huge grin on my face, really.

On the bright side a limited selection of entries means a better chance to win some decent silver giveaways
