would the corrosion make the coin ungradable? either way, it needs to be put to bed soon

I'm not sure that its corrosion. Under the loupe, it looks like bad toe-jam. I don't want to try and clean it.

Great find! If that verdigris isn't too thick, hold that puppy under some hot, running tap water and rub with your finger. It might come off. As it is, the coin is not valuable and it's only an AU. I don't hesitate to try to conserve these using the sink method.
