I've finally reached a collecting dream I've had since I started collecting 5 years ago. As of this morning, I am the proud owner of a 1997 $200 gold Haida. I've long considered this to be the most beautiful coin Canada has EVER produced. It cost me 3 gold sovereigns to acquire, but I consider it a fair trade, and maybe slightly to my favor in the long run. I'd post pictures, but can't afford a camera after picking up this coin

What are your collecting dreams, and have you had the good fortune that I had in reaching any of them? I'd love to hear some similar stories.

Congrats.
I really don't have those types of wishes...I just know what I am able to afford and don't bother with the rest (either than dreuling over). I'm just happy in how my collection is growing as is.
Hang on, I got one...I guess my ultimate dream would be to find a 1936 dot 1 cent in some bargain bin from some unsuspecting dealer.

Very nice looking coin!

I don't have anything that specific I am concentrating on.. I have a bad habit of getting a bit of everything then not really finishing anything.. Still working on changing that :)

Nice coin Skelly423. Thanks Dollar1948 for posting a link to a pic, I would love to see the reverse on one. Skelly I am jealous of you now and want one for myself. I say it was a nice trade.

I started a post but screwed it up and posted before I finished.

I like that native series, I have it and the soapstone box that was designed for it. They are all quite nice.

I'd like to own the #1 1875H Large Date five cent piece. But I'm pretty sure the one my buddy has is number one and he teases me with it. Sigh.

Hello Skelly, I feel your pain! I have similar goals and somedays it will seem I'll never get there. However, I am aiming to get the entire six (6) Canadian Decimals from 1858-1967 in I.C.C.S.>Mintstate.
I'm currently 90% there, but it's a forever endless process.

Congrats skelly, it's one of the prettiest Canadian coins ever by most accounts.

My ultimate dream is simple: I want the Eliasberg 1913 liberty head nickel. I'm not holding my breath though. In more reasonable dreams, the 1893 RT3 10c is #1 on my list.

I'm very happy for you and can feel your excitement through this computer interface.

Can't honestly say I've settled on a 'dream' yet .... still exploring the universe of possibilities.

Congratulations ! A lot of us here are happy too once we hear someone has attained a certain goal in our hobby and feels very happy about it... Your gold coin is really a beauty considering it cost you 3 gold sovereigns... same with my experience as I remember my stage when I was able to acquire my first Alfonso 4peso gold, it also made me to sacrifice all my 4peso Isabel at hand during that time just to get the Alfonso. But as time goes on you begin to crave and dream for more. Indeed, now it is a milestone for you to remember acquiring your first Gold Haida. I know we will soon be hearing from you in the future - another milestone from skelly423

I really like native/aboriginal themed coins as well... but only if they are p.m.

I got this one from Germany() when gold was worth half of it's current price... paid only a smidgen over spot. It would have realized a higher price in North America.

>>> edit... okay, that seems straightened 'round VVV

it is my all time favourite as well - I am the proud owner of one of these coins (bought it together with the other 3 of the native series, the only coins I never threw away the boxes and paperwork)
