There's no subforum for commemoratives so I'm hoping that early commemoratives are classic enough for the classic grading forum

Coin is lighter in person and has the pink, purple, and blue toning that should be at least slightly discernible in the pics. Anything that looks like parallel scuffs are on the hard plastic case it's in.

Nice! I recently bought one that's so purty that I'd send it off to get graded if I wasn't such a cheap......

I decided to take up a bit more running on this thread.

I put in a bid for a 1935s San Diego California- Pacific half a couple of months ago at an auction in Sydney. I didn't get it unfortunately, but what prompted me to bid was the scene on the reverse of a tower and a domed building.

My daughter in law's folks are natives of San Diego, although I come from Sydney.

I finally nailed exactly from where the scene on the coin was derived. It twigged on me after I had visited Balboa Park, near San Diego Zoo. I got into Google Maps and into the terrestrial photography, and I was able to reproduce almost exactly what appears on the coin.

As an aside to this thread, about 20 years ago an auction house in Sydney, allied to Spinks London at the time, had the $50 round and octagonal Panama Pacific gold coins up for sale. I turned up on the viewing day, and I had both of these sitting in the palm of my hands. The catalogue described the the grading of the pair as MS65. I just wanted to see them; I was collecting ancients at the time, I still do.

I do have a nice 1936 San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge half in about MS63.
