We talk about them
we carry them
There is no definition of one.

to you
What is a pocket coin
What can be included.

If you don't carry one but you wear one
watch ring bracelet, in a bezel, is it still considered a pocket coin?

To me, it's just a good luck piece that's been given as a gift. My current piece is a 23 Peace dollar, worn almost smooth by now. A couple friends of mine just left for Afghanistan, or as they call it *&%*hole-astan, as Navy corpsmen with the Marines, and I gave them each a common date morgan to keep as a pocket piece. Don't know whether they'll work, but can't hurt!

Mine is a 1921 Morgan. It was my first silver US coin. Even though I lost the original when I was in middle school, I had 2 and quickly replaced it. I keep it in my wallet behind my license and ID, so it's hasn't been worn down too much and every time I take out my ID, I see it.

I keep it for luck, but also for a great conversation piece. Nothing gets people interested in talking about coins like a big hunk of 80 year old silver.

To me, a pocket piece has to be carried loose. Wanting to have it with you and being willing to wear it down or possibly damage or even lose it is what makes it a pocket coin, and not a piece of jewelry.

By my definition, I don't have a pocket piece right now. I have carried an 1834 shilling with me for the last dozen years, but I think of it as a key fob, and not a pocket piece.

I carry 2 pieces of exonumia around my neck. It's my grandfather and great-grandfathers WWI and WWII dogtags. These two pieces mean more to me then my entire collection.

I think of a pocket coin as a good luck charm. It's the one you pull out to flip for something or rub for that extra little bit of luck. If you wear it, it's pretty hard to do, so I wouldn't consider jewelry to be a pocket piece...just my opinion. I have an old, dateless now, walking liberty I carry with me...in my pocket.

My pocket coin of some decades is a 1907 USPhilippines 1peso silver coin with a hole and made into a keyfob. Sometimes I hate the hole that made it into a keyfob and there's times I like the coin because it's a coinfob. However it is a great talking piece with collectors and is a coin in the pocket
