I am using the nikon S550 for taking pictures of coins I'm selling on ebay. I've tried flash no flash. Incandescent and flourescent lighting, macro no macro but the pictures pretty much suck. I have tripods mini and standard but I dont use any. I basically just lay them on my kitchen table and take the pictures. Any and all suggestions and help is appreciated. I do have adobe PS, but I dont want to enhance the pictures and make them look better than they really do. Pennies look like a brown blob LOL.

There's the first problem. The 3 "musts" of coin photography:

- A firm camera mount.

- Coin and camera lens exactly parallel.

- Delayed shutter so you're not shaking the camera when the shot goes off.

Until you do these 3 things, you'll never know what your camera is capable of.
