Thanks for grading!

Thad, will either of your products help this one? If so, which one?

Looks to be about EF-40 or, at worst, VF30....corroded.

VERDI-CARE™ FTW baby! That verdigris spot on the temple would be gone with a little toothpick work. See my VERDI-CARE™ thread in the main forum section. I just conserved a 3-leg buffalo yesterday with a spot almost identical to that one. I can 100% guarantee you could conserve this coin with VERDI-CARE™.

Thanks! Wasn't sure if I needed VERDI-CARE™ or VERDI-GONE™ (how do you get the little TM?).

EDIT: for the little TM, thanks Thad! LOL!

It's an ASCII character, hold down ALT and punch 0153 using the number pad, release ALT and it will pop in.

JHS - You're being far too hard. When a Lincoln has clear separation between the cheek and jaw it's a VF coin. End of story, that's main technical indicator for a VF coin. Also, you're not accounting for the fact that the 1925-S is one of the most poorly struck and problematic issues EVER in the series. The 24 and 25 branch mint coins are some of the worst Lincolns ever produced. You cannot penalize die state as wear, it is not wear.

thad, I dont know if I'm being far too hard...after looking at a variety of 1925S, you may be right.

That year was not so poorly struck the wheat ears did not have full lines...but it was very weak.

Thus,
that there are no lines remaining on the east ear and barely any lines remaining on the west ear
and
given your perspective on the obverse
I'll stand corrected.

Here is a picture of a 1925S reverse. The rim is weak. The rim on Scooby's coin is not only weak, it is also well worn.

Who doesn't want their coin to grade as high as possible?

conundrums:

grade too low and we risk undervalue
grade too high (like them ebayers)= ridicule.

Standing corrected or not, I "MIGHT" pay VF money for that coin....XF money? not a chance.

Thanks for all the valuable input, guys. I know grading is subjective, but I'm trying to get the hang of it.

Before posting the coin, I figured VF, but getting the numbers down has proven to be a challenge for me.
