Hi everyone

I have bought an 1887 Morgan silver dollar. It has no mint mark that I can find but it does have an error that I haven't seen listed.
The sides are reverse (one upside down) when you turn the coin over. Does this error affect the value? Is this a fake?

I bought it from ebay for 25$. Is this a scam?

Thanks for answers

We need pics to determine if it is authentic.

Pics to better show what you are referring to would help.

If you are saying what I think you are - then all US coins are that way, check your pocket change. Pics are absolutely necessary though.

Oh - and welcome to the boards.

Will need pictures to determine if authentic.
The Philadelphia mint did not put a mint mark on Morgans.
And the sides being upsidedown from each other is 'coin alignment' - medal is when both sides have the same orientation. Again this is normal
for morgans.

As wwhitman pointed that is the normal alignment for this coin.

Easiest way to show the orientation of the front and back (obverse and reverse) at the same time is take a picture using a mirror. You'll be able to see both sides in the same pic.

lol - that might be hard to do since he's in Norway!

hallo and welcome, Eruik!

What you are seeing is completely fine - if you'd like to post pictures, experts here will help you to assess if your coin is authentic. There ARE a lot of counterfeit (fake) coins out there. =)
Rest in Peace

I would be worried more about it not being the grade described than being fake; correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe P mint dates like 1887 are commonly counterfeited.
