First of all. How do you differentiate between Washington quarters?

Do you refer to them as eagle quarters (WEQ) and Statehood Quarters (WSQ) like I do? Or do you lump them all together into one, ie: Washington quarters.

Wouldn't it be safe to assume that this is the same difference between LWC, LMC, and the new LSC?

Just a thought.

I definitely do not lump them into one!

This is how I break it down (and it is only my opinion)...

Washington quarters (1932~1998)
Statehood Quarters (1999~2008)
DC and Territorial Quarters (2009)
America the Beautiful Quarters (2010~)

In my opinion they ceased being " Washington quarters" once the point of focus became the reverse images and their commemorative mission.

I like jbuck's breakdown, but I lump the statehood and dc & territorial quarters together.

A lot of people do and I am okay with it.

I would prefer those that do combine it refer to it as the "Statehood, DC, and & Territorial Commemorative Quarters" series.

When building a set, it is always a personal choice. One can either treat them as a separate series or "rename" the series to be inclusive of the new coins.

My point is that The District of Columbia and Territories are not States.

I would prefer to see WPQ than WATBQ!

I believe it is worth mentioning that Dansco has " Washington quarters" on all of their albums except the DC/Territorial album. The "Statehood" and "American the Beautiful" albums both say Washington quarters on the cover, but not on the spine (at least not on my Statehood Quarter album).

It is also worth mentioning that (as far as I know) Dansco does not offer an album that houses both the Statehood Quarters and DC/Territorial Quarters, although you can easily add the DC/T page to the Statehood Quarter album.

Not that Dansco has the final opinion. I am still upset at them for including a 1922-D Plain hole in the Lincoln albums!

I agree with nolawyer, except that I distinguish between silver Washingtons (1932-64) and clad eaglebacks (1965-98).

My focus on quarters is helping Coinman1014 find them in circulation, which is why we focus on the clad. We do the same with dimes.

Now, if he could just find a '73-D quarter, he could move on to the silver! Actually, he'll probably do a P & D set of State Quarters; right now he just has a one-of-each set.

I agree with JB too.....
And to me as well, the D.C. & Territory Qtrs are a "separate" Set and series than the Statehood Qtrs.
Using a "lump them all together" theory doesn't work for me.....if that were the way....then one should have a GIANT Set starting in 1999 and ending in the year 2021 when the Park series ends !
Though they are ALL Washington quarters, there are distinctions that do make them "different" from each series.

I know that there are "infomercials" on t.v., and coin selling companies like Littleton, etc. etc. that "lump them all together" (State & Territory)in what they offer for sale.....and I know that there are reputable folder and album companies that do too......but I'll follow Dansco's lead on this one !

I have been looking at them as Washington, State and Territories, and America The Beautiful. Of course I also lump all of them together and just call them My American Quarters!

Washington Silver Quarters 1932-1964
(the 'classics'!)

Washington Clad 'Eagle Reverse' Quarters 1965-1998
(can be a lot harder to complete than the '32-64 Set!)

Statehood/Territorial Quarters 1999-2009
(a lot of non-Dansco albums are now made to collect 1999-2009 Sets)

National Parks Quarters 2010-2021
(back to the 'old days' of no guaranteed BU rolls from banks!)

I actually saw one at Barnes & Noble this weekend. I think it was a Harris album, but I am not 100% sure.
