Ay 1st sight, it looks like a love token, but I'm intriqued with the "5 CENTS". Maybe a merchant token used for one.

I'm very struck by the design and calligraphy, maybe circa 1910? Overall however it's fairly crudely executed, making me think that it could be a few years earlier.

Most 5 cents love token show on the obverse a 'real' five cents coin.

The style of the monogram looks very similar to this item though the medium and the execution differ.

I would read the monogram as "YHG".

Looks like "hDG" to me, pinned to the reverse. My guess is 1890's, a maverick token - until ID'd. Possibly, it was good for a tune, a drink, a cigar - mostly, those things were a nickel back then. Good conversation piece ...
