Good eye, James. Can you get a closer shot of the date and mint mark?

Right now, I'm inclined to agree it may be a RPM because the MM is so fat and noticeably different than the date.

I'd like to see a closer image of the interior of the D

There's no need. It's Machine Doubling. I can see it from the image you did post.

Chuck, can you explain how Machine Doubling can be so pronounced on the MM, and not be as evident on the numbers that are near it?

Yes, I can.

It's because the mintmark was punched into the die by hand, which often leaves sharper angles than the engraved bevel of the details of the remainder of the design. Because of this, the die tends to stick at the mintmark only. This is a VERY common occurrence on silver quarters and half dollars for some reason, and is less common on many other denominations. Still yet, it's Machine Doubling which does not warrant premium value.
