I know this is a TPG coin question and it belongs on that forum, but I'm looking for a larger input on this subject.Hope you can help.I'm contemplating buying a 1948 D Jefferson nickel PCGS MS64FS Omaha Bank Hoard slab coin. PCGS price list has the coin valued at $25.00, and past Heritage Auctions have sold between $10-$18. I have been following such auctions in this case on ebay and have found that the whole mystic of the story behind the "Omaha Bank Hoard" tens to ramp up the price of the coin just slightly. I wonder if this is worth the extra money. I would like to hear from the community and their thoughts on this subject. Thanks!

That would depend on what you intend to do with the coin. Are you looking to put it in your album, stash it away or try to resell it?

I broke out my PCGS MS66 OBH Washington quarter and put it in my Dansco.
I don't feel like it was anything but a real nice quarter. I might be wrong. ?
It is a 46-s. I got it from ebay cheap. Far below the PCGS site valuation.

Many people crack them out but keep the slab stickers on the inside back cover. If you ever decide to sell it at least you have the info which MIGHT carry the premium to a trusting sole.

That's what I do. I clear tape the slab tag to the inside covers.

I've bought a couple of Omaha Bank Hoard slabbed coins for very cheap. I don't think it adds much of a premium (if any) to a coin.

If you just wanna put it in a holder then what is the question? The O.B.H. isn't gonna make a bit of difference is it?If you like the coin, get it. Don't worry where it came from.

I've had a couple of pedigreed coins, one from the Omaha Bank Hoard and two from the Jules Reiver Collection. I don't think it does or should add any value, but I'll admit it is kind of cool to know where they came from. I don't think it is worth paying a premium for though.
