Hello!
I happend to find an old russian bronze medal, that I keept for many years.

Diameter size is 9 cm.
Thikness is 7-8 mm.
Weight is about 250 gram.

I think, pic 3 says:
"Peninsula Krim and island Tamansky became Russian in 1783"

And I think the person on the front is Catherine II of Russia:

This medal is beautiful. It says peninsula Krim and island Tamansky became Russian in 1783. The medal is definitely from Russian empire and can be valuable like medal or militaria.

We're talking about the Crimean peninsula which was annexed by the Russian Empire in 1783 (with Catherine II on the throne). I believe the medal was issued much later than that.

I check in one Russia coin forum:
This is bronze beginning of 19th century Saint Petersburg mint R1 rare medal diameter 92.3 mm, weight 280.08 gram. Price in Russian auctions $500-2000. This is not Catherine, but grand prince Potyomkin-Tavricheskiy.

This one was about 500, yours looks better.

Could be a little confusing for people who cannot read the legend. Even though the map shows the same part of the world, the two medals are unrelated.

O, I'm sorry! I didn't take the closer look..
Thank you SVSLAV!
It's not exact same. But this was other side:

And it's confused me. So the price may be different too, but the medals can be from same series?

It does look like the person featured on both medals is prince Potyomkin-Tavrichesky, Catherine's favorite.

Floow's medal is dedicated to adding Crimea to the Russian Empire, The other (found by Russia1981) is about colonization and populating the steppes of Southern Ukraine including Crimea. Apparently Grigory Potyomkin was very instrumental in both affairs.
