It's a nice coin. I don't know very much about Canadian coins, but that price amazes me considering this coin is noted as "polished". I take it that this is a very, very rare coin?

oh ya, definitely one of the top rarities. the story? In the early 20's there was a very light demand for 50 cent pieces, so almost all of the 1921 50 cents were retained at the mint. In 1929, the demand grew, so the mintmaster decided to melt down the entire 1921 stock, and recoin them as 1929. He did this because he feared that the public would think they were recieving fakes if so many "old" dated coins were released at one time. Only 75 or so 1921's are believed to exist, and they are thought to be from mint sets and circulation strikes sold to mint visitors in the early months of 1921.

if that AU-50 was not polished, you are looking at over $100,000!
