I have finally decided to sell my penny, but I can not get a picture clear enough to show the details,I have the forms to send it off for grading but I`m afraid of losing it even with buying insurance. They told me at a coin show it had been cleaned and would decrease the value, but said it is a (strongman?) and is valueable.any tips of how to get pics or should I just try to sell it without grading ? thanks for any tips, Billie

I would send it to ANACS to be graded. They will grade it even though it has been cleaned. It then will demand a higher price.JMO.
Rest in Peace

Certification on a high ticket item like that is a must in order to get a decent price. Otherwise not many will offer anything other than an insulting price. Even then they probably will still do it.

Your coin looks like this, correct? The doubling is so strong it almost hurts your eyes to look at it.

If so, it is very valuable and most certainly worth sending in for certification before trying to sell it. Demand for these is high. It will be a lot easier to sell and you'll likely get a much better price if it were certified.

That one is what I see when I'm not wearing my glasses lol. I have pretty bad eyes. Do these coins command a big premium?

as all said; get it slabbed to increase buyer confidence and get the best selling price. Have you tried scanning the coin?

Needgames, a 1955 DDO goes for more (and is probably significantly more rare than) than the 1909-S VDB.
