Going through my junk box for exchange with a fellow member here, and found this error.

What would cause this error? Did it fall out of the slot? or used a smaller frame punch intended for a smaller coin?

Small die brake also appears at the A's around 3:30 and 7:30.

macmercury- It is hard to tell, but that may be from a die clash, which would mean that some detail from the reverse die would have been inadvertently imprinted on the obverse die. All in all an interesting find.

I too have found a few notable error coins from the Franco period. It makes you wonder how quality control was at the Spanish mints during this time.

Here is a link to a thread containing images of my best example of a Spanish error coin:

Thanks Archarz,

Yes is interesting to find these flawed piece from the Spanish mints, I was just thinking about the value also and if there any demand for it.

macmercury- Regarding the value of these coins, there really is not too much added by the error. Error coins commanding a premium is something that was invented in the US and has spread to some countries, such as Canada. But some countries so frequently have had error coins that problem-free coins are more in demand. So, no, I'm sorry to say that your coins probably do not have much additional value.
