However, I did not see any doubling in the Date, and are those polishing lines on the obverse?

I think I see the doubling now in the Date - I am pretty sure this is 54A.

ST, I don't see what you see, polishing lines on obverse? What you have circled on the reverse, I believe are polishing lines. As to being VAM 54A, I don't think so. I just don't see the large die crack running down into the breast feathers. Close up shots of date and breast feathers would help.

The Die Break on the Reverse displaces the field on the reverse.

ST, what that means is one side of the crack is lower than the other. I just don't see the crack in the pictures, if you see on the coin, good chance it's the 54A.

Hmm... I don't know... Are there any VAMs with Polished Lines on the Reverse?

they are polishing lines but to small to be listed for any specific VAM, though in some cases they can be used for secondary diagnostics

VAM 54 is noted for the die break going down the center of the eagles chest, I can't see that in your pictures,,,,

The die crack on the breast is easy to see in a photo. It's doubtful that this coin is a VAM54 or 54A. nlp
