hi my name is donna I'm from yorkshire in england,, I've found an alaskan coin on the front it says frontier mint 1867 and has a man panning for gold I think and on the back a bears head and it says bear , alaska, I'm wondering about its history cant seem to find anything,, and its along way from home. can you help..I live in yorkshire england x

No denomination? It can't refer to the Klondike (Yukon) gold rush as that didn't start until 1896-97.

Just found reference to a minor gold rush in Wyoming in 1867. So I assume there would have been bears in that area around that time?

so y cant I find any reference to this coin, was it used for cash or a celebratory coin,,do you think, no denomination,, so abit confused,,

Alaska never issued it's own official coinage. From the description your item sounds like a souvenir medal from Alaska.

If you can, post a pic, and we might get a better idea of what it is.
