Hi all,
I love this forum, and have been able to chat with some
really great, good people that I have learned alot from.
There are people here who have simply just asked for my
mailing address, and have sent me coins out of the goodness of there hearts. :) I do so appreciate it.I recently made an offer to a fellow forum member who replied to a topic I had posted. Now this member didn't ask me for anything, but I thought it would be nice for a change to give back to this community some of the kindness given to me.So I offered to send some wheaties to someone in a foreign country.I didn't ask for anything in return,I just simply wanted to give back.I have never heard from this person, not so much as no thank you.I appolgize for getting my feelings hurt, but please if an active member offers to be nice to you..Please answer them.Yes or No thank you.I understand there are some people in the world who don't have the best intentions at heart, but some of us really do.Hope I didn't offend anybody.Sn31.

See... There are many reasons why the member couldn't have replied.

Reason 1 being mail failed to reach him
Reason 2 being he hasnt been on the forum/ computer for a while.

Thanks!

If he has read the mail then I am deeply sorry for you and appreciate your generousity as we all here.

TKC!

I understand your feelings. A very simular thing happened here with me also. I send a new coin values book to a younger member for free. I though it would help them get started and get there interest in collecting up. I would have never knew they even received the book except I saw a reply to another member that they had this book.
I just chalked it up to immaturity. I know you didn't send the coin for the thanks, but it nice to hear anyway.
I figure if it keeps there interests in coins and coin collecting,it keeps them from all the bad influence's out in the world today and thats enough for me.

I understand the feeling I once banktransferred 50 euro into a collegues bankaccount for his wedding ( as is customery here to give money ) and he never thanked me . Wedding being a priority and not keeping a list of people to thank

However on your case

1) Some countries have a relatively large amount of foreing post that gets "lost" certainly if the inbetween mail uses temporary labour
and the lettre has to pass through customs .
I read a whole list of instructions how to minimalize this problem

If the lettre never arrived I personally find it very difficult to tell somebody a lettre did not arrive (because it might not have been sent yet)

2) I find myself somtimes forgetting to thank somebody because I have it in mind to reciprocate in the future and to return the kindness and then it turns out it takes a while longer then I thougt to show my gratitude

3) Unfortunately some people expect it has their due to be given things

Right, actually I've shared common feeling just like you.

Last month, someone from US posted some pictures of a few Chinese brass coins minted during Qing Dynasty on ebay.com for help. As many fellows did and do in this forum, I gave him a hand, sent him one Email, explaining in detail those brass coins.

But, until present I haven't get any reply from that person.

Hehe, how can I do? Let him be.

After all, most people of this world are so generous as fellows in this forum.

Hi sn31

Its hard to say why some do not respond to gifts and offers, I just know that it happens, it happens to me also.

I just dont let it bother me any more,, in fact there are times when I give or contribute without anyone knowing, I have paid for coins for other members and asked not to be named, expect nothing get nothing no problems !!

Of course a thank you is appreciated. I think it addresses the act of kindness rather then the tangible received. But despite the number of hours we spend on coins we all have lives and priorities and our best wishes get lost.

I'm sorry this happened to you. If it was a brand new member, it may very well be that this member signed up and never came back. We also get some new members that sign up only so they can try to spam email our members for sales, etc. Without the member making some posts, it's simply not possible to make a character judgement.

Overall, I am pleased to say that our members and generous and courteous and will at least acknowledge a kind act and usually reciprocate in some way.

Sorry about your experience.

I have dealt with many forum members and have yet to have a similar experience.

Most people are kind, thoughtful, and courteous.
