Would this be considered a variety or an error? Any value for it? How does this happen? Thanks in advance for your help,
John1

I don't have an answer for you but that is a cool looking coin. I can't recall ever seeing one of those.

Peace
Brent

I remember another post recently where the pros mentioned lathe lines, but I don't recall ever getting an explanation on the cause.

What about the cause though? Would this be in between the shaping lathe and the hub impression?

If you type "lathe lines" in the CCF search box you will find a little more info. Correct me if I am wrong, the one I have is a die 1? Any value placed on these? Thanks all,
John1

Someone mentioned very low premium maybe around $5.00 or $10.00 bucks on the LCR site.

I don't know if thats right or not

I've never found one of these to see what it might bring if offered for sale on ebay or other venue's etc.

The stock wasn't polished to remove the lathe marks. This one I've seen before and even have one. There are a few reverse ones I've found as well.

From what I can see on the link pics. that were posted (if that is what the posters coin actually looks like)
The marks do not seem to affect the devices.
Lathe marks would have to be cut marks thus incuse.

They usually show just in the fields, but in the first image you see them on a low device. The only explanation is that these were deep enough on the die to affect these lower devices. Depending on depth of the lathe marks that didn't get removed before use of the stock die material, they would be raised. The hubbing seem to remove them in device areas.
