If you have any slabbed coins, you might want a column for the cert number in case it's ever stolen.

You could add a picture, but the spreadsheet will get pretty large pretty quick.

How about denomination (cent, nickel, dime, etc), type (Lincoln wheat, Jefferson, etc.). I had a different tab for each denomination. Have fun building it.

I think if you added pics the way to do it would be a column with the pic file # amd drive or disc label. Then all the pics could be stored elsewhere, but you could still find them easily. And if you are using one spreadsheet for your entire collection, you need a column for denom IMHOination, With 256 columns available, Use as many different identifiers as you can think of for easy sorting. It's easier to delete a column later than to go back and add information to each row.

Dont know if the Qty field will work as a Header (column) as all the other attributes are individually per coin (row), how do you then identify the other attributes if you have a 5 in the qty field, so each row will have to be a individual coin to be able to track all the aspects. Unless of course these are low value coins and you just want to consolidate the amounts.

Regarding pictures/scans. Yes you can have a link in the cell for a pic in a different folder, but it depends on how many in your collection. I attempted to store scans of my coins but after a few thousand the folder storing them was HUGE. And don't forget KM#ref. I find it invaluable for locating them in the catalogs and on other sites. Also for naming pics. I used a three letter country code then km#ref (followed by year if necessary).

You can only go so wide if you want to print a copy. I have all coins on a spreadsheet than a copy in a binder where I mark all additions then later update the spreedsheet.

Unless you want to open a "can of worms", make a spreadsheet for each country, and/or type of collection! Other option would be to use a "world coins type itinery guide. Excel has too many limitations. I have two that I have looked at, but haven't figured out which, or if I want to use . I can burn a copy, (maybe), and maybe it would help. One is ,"software for collectors". Philatetis organizer miscelaneous Numismatic Organizer. The other is "Pro-Coin 2005. This one has the license, and SN., ETC. It was upgraded in 2006. Dick

I suggest you not use value or you'll be changing those every day. Slight exageration but way to frequently. Date separate column from Mint mark. Not sure if using EXCEL but if so and you want to sort by date it is then easier. WHERE STORED? WOW, your house must be massive if you need that. Value gets tuff if you also have quantity. For example if you have 5 coins, same dates amd mint, same grade you have a price for each. So now you need a column for total of all 5? If you really attempt to record where you got each coin, you must not have a large quantity. For many collectors that have virtually thousands of coins, to record where each came from would be a real job and not really necessary. Faults too becomes a problem if you have more than one coin of the same. Again, what do you do with those same 5 I mentioned before? Do they all have the same Faults?
