Is there any official US mint Platinum State Quarters?
The seller insisted that it is original P mint Platinum, even back it up with CoA. I still skeptical, Red Book do not mention that edition. Make it worse, he is asking for under $ 5.- for a set of 5.
Anybody can inform me?

No, there are no US Mint Platinum State Quarters.

There are American Platinum Eagles (US Mint Bullion, like the American Silver Eagle. They are available in a quarter ounce size. Given the price, I doubt that this is what he is confusing you with, but it had to be mentioned.

Anything platinum related to the Statehood Quarters is post-mint and only plated; the amount of platinum is negligible. I would almost argue that there is probably more platinum in your razor blades than on those quarters!

The Platinum and Gold State Quarters are all over the place !
HSN, Littleton, Infomercials, etc., etc., etc.,. have sold these since 1999.
They also did the Territory Qtrs. this way, and I'm sure they'll do the Parks Qtrs. this way as well.
In "parts per billion" testing....they can't find enough of the "plating" to warrant ANY value of precious metal at all.
And in most numismatic opinions these have been "altered" and are only worth "face value".....and that is all.
They are definitely NOT a "U.S. Mint product"....these have been "plated" by secondary market profiteers.

Thanks guys.
I almost convince it is true. I did ask him twice if it is after market plated and he assured me: ORIGINAL from the mint with COA nothing mortified - kayeagle911

That is the danger buying at ebay, lots of raccoon out there.
What is wrong with this world, I have to be very careful with the "very" fine print or get trapped.

Twenty years ago, I bought Silver coin American Civil War with Gen. Robert Lee and Ulysses S. Grant. I made sure it is Government Mint products. The coin arrived, it is Government Mint Products. But not US, it is Liberian. I am not sure if it is plated or solid with lower % of Silver. Those bleep raccoon.

Don't waste your money. It's either a scam or it's microplated with 10 cents worth of platinum.

"Weight / displacement will tell you if it is silver / coin silver."

Would you elaborate AmericanMafia (or anyone)? I undertsnad the density would be different for a silver coin vs. a clad coin. I'm wondering what the numbers are.

I've got some fake Morgans that are stamped copy that came in lots with stuff that I actually wanted. I'll probably try to sell them at some point, just wondering what they're made of.

Liberia has made three coins that match your description, all with the same design. If it is a 5 dollar coin it would be either 1999 or 2001 and it would be coppernickel. If it is a 2000 10 dollar coin then it is 999 fine silver. (They also made a fourth coin of the same design, a ten dollar coin in gold in 2000)

I hate to dig it out, but I remember it was silver. I don't think it was 2000, it was about 20 years ago. I hope it is also .999 silver. That way I made my money back buy now. As far I remember it was around $ 10.-, it was not worth to fight and risk to returned to get my money back. It was an advertised on TV.
