I have been selling many different items over the years on ebay and was wondering when do people think is the best time to close an auction.
For many items I have thought Sunday night is the best time because people have the weekend to look at my items as they come up the list and Sunday night buyers are relaxed and ready to purchase.
I figure Friday and Saturday nights would be the worst because buyers are off having fun. And days are no good because buyers are working.
I have sold quite a few antiques on ebay in the last 5 years and I have found Sunday night to be the best as well. But if an item is unique or special enough people will bid on it no matter when it goes off.
With very few exceptions, I list for an ending time Sunday between 9PM-Midnight Eastern Time. That gives me the best coverage of all US time zones at a time I'd expect the audience to be at their computers. I will vary that for coins of particular interest to overseas buyers, trying to compromise for a reasonable ending time in the native country of the coin listed.
Combined, my son and I sold 400+ pieces in the month of Dec. New Years day, best single 24 hr. period. Easter was great. Any 3-day weekend. In the past month, it was last Sun. night. After you do this for awhile, I find more than 50% is repeat buyers. It's all coming to an end though, I've GIVEN away too many, just to pay fees.
