well, this is an auction photo so it's all I have to go on. the auction house doesn't seem to know what it is either. the only other info I have is that it's about a 1/4 oz.

I think I would pass on this one unless I KNEW the originals were cast. The coin really looks cast and the piece of the edge seems to support that view. Which auction house has the coin?

It's an ancient coin from the Kushan Empire, in what is now Afghanistan and Pakistan. I believe King Kanishka I was the only one to strike the distinctive "guy in a dress" design in gold. There are two genuine examples (weighing 7.9 and 7.6 grams) and one fake (weighing 6. grams) on this website.

I couldn't say one way or another whether this coin was fake, just from that pic, but originals should be struck, not cast.
