If it is real, shouldn't the designs be exactly the reverse from each other? And how did a dime die get into the process as well? I think it's been carefully hammered.

Ah, wasn't thinking of the dime. Couldn't figure out what in the world on the cent would cause that shape.

It's Not a hammer job.it's more on the lines of a hydraulic press job.We used to put a couple of pennies together and put them in a 10 ton press at an old shop I used to work at and get the same results as this coin."Key clue"Letters are backwards

When I worked in a machine shop we also used to do stuff like this. Never thought of selling them though.

The seller doesn't see a date...the seller doesn't see much. Selective seeing, I reckon.

It's not a hammer job. It's a "glue job". The coin is covered with dried glue. Coins were pressed into the glue while it was still tacky.

Thanks Mike, learn something new everyday.
Besides, if this were done on a hydraulic press, wouldn't there be damage on the reverse?
Didn't catch the "don't see a date", j_h_s - selective seeing - LOL!

I think this guy is legit, just ignorant. He also has a lg. cent with the dreaded "vanishing letters" error. Just a worn coin going for stupid $.

Man, can't let this go. My opinion has changed, not ignorant, just stupid. He has a fine looking cent advertised as "missing die layers on both sides"? Also a "Practice coin that was rejected because it has a green "N" for no on back" (Worn Wasington 25c that was written on with green magic marker~sold for 9.00)
