I think that's around $21.50 per ounce for this silver lot? Its high for qualities I am unsure of, I do understand that seller is trying to make up the loss of fees from ebay, paypal or the like and shipping plus insurance. Difficult to sell and buy. I wait for other opinions.

MacMerc - These are selling as avoirdupois ounces/pounds but the price of silver is listed in Troy oz. One avoirduiois pound is only about 14.6 Troy oz, so the price per ounce is actually about $23.00/Tr oz.

I agree with StJoeBlues and in addition to that, remember that the coins he is selling are only 90% pure. If you consider that as well, that makes the price for one troy ounce of pure silver at over $25. That is a HUGE premium over spot for junk silver.

Asking price $334 divided by 14.58 (the number of troy ounces in an avoirdupois pound) = $22.91/troy ounce of .900 fine silver

$22.91 divided by .9 = $25.46/troy ounce pure silver.

At the time of this writing, spot silver is around $17.45/troy ounce.

Good catch, CWB. I'm a dyslexic English major, which is why I have a hard time with that conversion. I use a spreadsheet to determine the price I will pay when I buy junk silver. I enter the current price of silver and it calculates the price for every denomination of US silver coin.

There are a lot of unscrupulous people who sell by the avoirdupois ounce calculating with the Troy ounce price. They know that most people don't know the difference.
