The mm seems to be tilted at an odd angle. Without consulting the picture of the legitimate mm positions, going by memory it doesn't look quite right. Your thoughts? Thanks, Steve

After I posted I found the pix on my hard drive and thought #2. Here is a rotated pic of the obverse. Looks to me like it could go either way, but it seems closer to #2 because of the height. Seems a little lower than #3. It just has to be difficult, doesn't it? Steve

The seller is one of my (former) favorites ... so you should be able to deal with him successfully. Nevertheless, "appears to be polished" is mild ... with a Brillo pad, maybe?

Yes this also used to be one of my favorite sellers. Lately though he has been listing quite a few "appears o be polished" coins.

I recently bought a Barber dime from this seller, and it looked nice in the pictures. An AU with some luster remaining. When I received it, it was obviously cleaned and had re-toned. I'm not writing the seller off completely but am certainly skeptical.

Never fails, that vette guy sells 99% garbage. Genuine or not, I would not have paid more than $5 for this coin. Brillo pads and coins do not go well together. LOL

I would buy a real SVDB for $5 no matter what happened to it, provided it can still be authenticated.

It looks genuine, but who would take a brillo pad to that nice date? And while I'm here,I would like to ask...if there was only 484,000 1909 S VDB's minted, why does every dealer in the coin magazines and coin shows always have one? I've collected wheat pennies since 1969 and I've never found one!
