Would it be considered "harsh" cleaning if the change in your pockets goes through the washer? Would the type of detergent make a difference? Like woolite as compared to say tide. What about the type of clothing involved, jeans as opposed to slacks. Ok maybe tying them up in a sock Any views or opinions?
I'd certainly call it "harsh." It's pretty easy to tell a coin which has gone through the washer, unless it was so clean in the first place that it didn't need washing anyways. The wash will clean the surfaces, while leaving enough in the nooks and crannies to indicate what happened.
