I have been to Kenya. It is a wonderful country. I've been to Nairobi, Masai Mara, and the Serengeti. You will have a fantastic time. I saw more wildlife than I had ever hoped for: lion, leapord, giraffe, zebra, warthog, hippo, elephant, ostrich, wildebeast, antelope, crocodile, cheetah, and more than a million flamingos at one time. Nairobi's airport boarders a national park. I saw plenty of Masai people and visited some of their villages in the middle of Masai Mara. It was a cultural experience that I'll always cherish. Be forewarned, the road to Masai Mara starts out very nice and you descend the rift valley but then the road turns into your worst nightmare. The asphalt gives out and it turns into the roughest road I have ever experienced, jarring every bone in your body. While you are there, you might as well see Tanzania also. In fact, the Serengeti is in Tanzania. Mount Kilamanjaro, Ngorongoro crater, and the island of Zanzabar are just a couple of highlights of Tanzania. You will be in a part of the world that gave rise to humans. There have been some fantastic discoveries by anthropologists in Kenya and Tanzania. Ngongoro crater is absolutley beautiful and reminds me of the garden of eden. I did't actively collect coins when I was there but did bring back a few Shillings. Their are lots of shops selling masks and such. You'll need to haggle but can get some good deals if you are good at it. Most tour guides that take you to Masai Mara will make stops at tourist shops and you will be subjected to relentless merchants.
