hello, need some help here. Please have a close look at this 1 cent piece. How did this happen? is it Damage? From the mint? post mint? sure looks funny.... thanks

hhbkiddo, I'm not sure what you are asking about. Looking at the coin, and the condition of the devices, I believe it, (before the damage it has received), to be at least AU-55, or even MS-60. BUT, what ever happened afterwaerds, appears to be from having been mixed in with some very hard ocjects, note the surface, and the indentations. Is that waht you are asking about? Dick

From the shape on the indents it looks like a rock hammer happened.
Seriously, I can't think of anything at a mint that might cause that.

its not the grade I am looking for.. it is all that, as UGLY calls it , rock hammer stuff... what is it? have never seen it anywhere... BUT, IMO, there has been no pressure applied onto the surface of the coin. I think one would see and recognize that. it looks like the metal is missing?It does not look like indentations, more like holes? I received this coin today, but it puzzles me.. It looks like pieces of metal are missing right down to the coins surface? h
