To be quite frank, you cannot be fair to anyone pricing a coin until you know enough about the coin to know what it is. Sounds to me from your question that you don't know errors all that well. This could easily open you up to either spending way too much or giving way too little for the item and hazarding losing a connection because of that. Best thing to do is to tell the person that you don't know the coins all that well and are a beginner collector.
