Finally given into the grading bit and decided to send 10 of my best Morgans to ANACS for grading. Price was right for economy. $12 a coin. What I want to know is how long the economy service is going to take. They offer 5 days and 15 days so that means economy will take longer than 15 days at least. Has anyone used the economy service? Don't want my coins to be sitting around somewhere for a few months. These will be my valuable CC's and 86-S and 88-S. How does everyone feel about ANACS? PCGS and NGC are out my line with their prices and waiting time. All I'm seeing at shows anymore are mostly ANACS slabs. Lets have a little discussion on this. Yes, I know someone will says if you value coins that much why not use PCGS or NGC. Cant stand rejection thats why.

It's not a matter of rejection. ANACS will issue a Details slab if the coin is cleaned or altered in anyway, which is basically the same as a PCGS or NGC Genuine slab. If the coin isn't cleaned or altered any of those three into a problem free slab. It depends on your level of confidence in knowing that your coins do not have problems. PCGS is still the most respected and popular TPG, regardless of how strict their standards are. The economy service from ANACS should take around 3 weeks or so, although I have never sent a coin in to be slabbed by them. Anyways, regardless of what you decide, good luck!

I love ANACS, but one of the reasons I use them is that they are a few miles from my house, so I don't have to worry about shipping, packaging, shipping costs, or return shipping. They average 3 weeks for economy, or 4 weeks if they are busy (shipping time is extra). I've taken a coin out of a PCGS slab and submitted it to ANACS and it came back a lower grade (from VF30 to VF25) but I know some people have had the opposite experience. I primarily use ANACS to slab my error coins, where I'm only concerned about getting the error slabbed (a grade of EF or VF or AU doesn't really matter to me if it is slabbed 'off center').
They are very friendly at ANACS, give them a call or send an email 10 working days into your wait and they'll often tell you the specific day the coins will be done.

Everyone has pretty much covered the processing time. Just wanted to remind you that the Economy Service has a "value threshold" ... nothing valued over $500 per coin can be submitted for Economy. Of course this is a declared value. But if lost, the most you'll receive is the value you declared.

Quote: Of course this is a declared value. This is something I have not understood...because in some cases the grade they assign can determine whether the value is higher than $500. So if it gets a good enough grade to be more valuable they don't charge the customer back for the higher grading tier?

I would hope not if it was something close, like where you think you have AU 50 which is valued at $450 and they give you AU 55 valued at $700 rather then someone clearly taking advantage, like trying to grade a F12 1901S quarter in economy.

I don't know. I've never "under-declared". I suppose if you're in the ballpark they would let it ride. Now if you submit an UNC 09S VDB, you may get a call from them.

The ANACS website says that they are experiencing up to 2 weeks of delay on the economy submissions, so two months imo will really be pushing it. I just submitted through the 5 day walkthrough, and they got it done in 4; so you might want to consider one of the faster services if you can.

I am becoming more and more convinced that ANACS is the way to go; at least in my specialty of Morgan dollars. PCGS and NGC refuse to attribute all but the most popular VAMs, and have made some egregious errors with the ones they do. On the other hand, ANACS' senior grader is a major player in the VAMming community. They attribute everything, and get it right the first time.

Right On! Right On! On my latest submission, John has already seen half of them over on VAMWorld. I made it easy for him though. All he has to do is confirm. I used the standard service ($16 per coin with the discount) due to the estimated values.
