It's been a long time since I've been on the forum, but I remembered it while looking at some coins in my collection tonight. So I thought I'd post and satisfy my curiosity as to what these would be graded. I know neither are anything fancy. Thank you!

The 1882 Morgan dollar:

I'd grade the 1882 at VF-25 and the 1921 at MS-64.

I would call the 21 an MS 64. Would it be held back by the die cracks on the reverse?

Nope. I'm still wavering about whether the '21 has seen circulation or not.

I would agree with VF25 for the 1882. The 1921 could be an AU58 "slider", or a nice MS63 or 64 unc. I'd have to inspect closely under a light to make that call.
Rest in Peace

I agree in general with MS-64 and VF-25. However, I believe the VF coin has been cleaned. The surfaces and color just doesn't look natural to me for a circ morgan.

I think if you look at the white backround on the 82, and see its tinted blue, you can see why the original steel gray color is off....It looks original old uncleaned to me. I have many they are quite nice when you get coins that don't have luster.......
I do think the coin is at least MS64,,,the OBV has the slightest of contacts and the REV has even fewer.....yet 1921 coins always have such great strikes even an AU coin has a nice strike....but as Dave points out....I just don't see the circulation wear......

Thank you for all of your comments. Just for kicks, I took it in to a local coin and collectibles shop. The owner told me the 1921 was a VF worth about $13, and the 1882 was a F worth $17. Needless to say, I didn't sell them. But just out of curiosity, how badly was he trying to rip me off?
